Distinctivs began with the vision and creativity of one woman, Samantha Gardner. What started at home—designing, printing, and shipping stickers by hand—grew into something much bigger: a brand built on thoughtful design, meaningful celebrations, and a genuine love for bringing people together.
Today, Distinctivs operates with professional manufacturing and shipping facilities, all based in the United States. While we’ve grown, we’ve never lost sight of where we started. We remain proudly woman-owned and operated, rooted in creativity, and committed to quality at every step.

Meet Sam, the founder and creative force behind Distinctivs Party. What began in her living room in 2011—designing and shipping party products by hand—has grown into a nationally loved brand rooted in thoughtful design and meaningful celebration.
Currently in what she calls her nomad year, Sam splits her time between Florida, Minnesota, and wherever the next adventure takes her as she embraces life as an empty nester. A true travel enthusiast, she draws inspiration from the places she explores and the people she meets.
Whether she’s discovering a new destination or guiding the brand forward, Sam’s passion for connection, creativity, and celebration shapes every detail. Her vision remains the heartbeat of Distinctivs—ensuring every product feels personal, joyful, and designed to bring people together.
Tara Walkup
Planning, Purchasing & Customer Service
Tara is the steady force behind so much of what keeps Distinctivs running smoothly. As our Planning, Purchasing, and Customer Service Manager, she brings focus, organization, and a whole lot of heart to the details that matter most.
She joined us in March 2021 and quickly became an essential part of our daily rhythm. From managing inventory and coordinating purchasing to supporting our customers with care and clarity, Tara ensures every order moves seamlessly from planning to doorstep.
Originally from Georgia, Tara shares life with her husband, Grant, and their lively crew of furbabies—Zinny, Miko, Umbra, and Rosy. Her energy, dedication, and behind-the-scenes leadership help keep the celebration flowing long before the party ever begins.
Sarah Otts
Controller
Sarah brings clarity and consistency to the financial side of Distinctivs. She oversees our day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring everything from reporting to tax coordination is handled with accuracy and care.
Her steady attention to detail keeps our numbers organized, our systems running smoothly, and our financial foundation strong. Behind every celebration we help create, Sarah is working quietly in the background to make sure the business side is just as thoughtful and well managed as the products we design.
Based in Mississippi, Sarah lives with her husband and brings both professionalism and reliability to our team. Her work allows us to move forward with confidence, knowing the details are handled with precision.
